Mojitos aren’t just summertime, tropical drinks! Put a little twist on a classic mojito by spicing it up for Fall. The use of apple cider, apples and cinnamon make this mojito sweet, spicy and full of the best fall flavors. Sip on this flavorful and refreshing cocktail throughout the season. It’s served chilled, so it’s the perfect drink to enjoy during the transition period of September and October – when the summer warmth is gone, but it’s not truly cold yet. Sitting outside on a crisp Fall day, admiring the changing leaves around you, with an Apple Cider Mojito in hand seems like the perfect afternoon.
Apple cider and rum, both used in this recipe, offer that warm and spicy flavor we love about Fall. The type of rum you use is up to you, but something dark and spicy will make this drink a little more flavorful than a white rum, which is used in a typical mojito.
Sweetened by our Manuka Honey Simple Syrup, it’s easy to customize this cocktail to be just as sweet, or not, as you prefer. Don’t think we’ve completely changed up the flavors of a classic mojito, though. Our Apple Cider Mojito recipe still calls for fresh lime and mint, which pair well with the apple and cinnamon flavors. Instead of topping off the cocktail with fresh berries or a colorful umbrella toothpick, we top it off with fresh apple slices and a cinnamon stick - for added flavor and a festive look. Gone apple picking recently? This cocktail can be topped with slices of your favorite apple type - there is no wrong answer here.
This cocktail doesn’t need to just be made by the glass - it can be made by the pitcher as well, to be easily served to a group. It can be made ahead and will keep just fine in the fridge. In fact, making it ahead will give the mint and cinnamon sticks more time to flavor the cocktail. It’s perfect for a Fall party or gathering with friends and family. Sip on an apple cider mojito while the kids carve out pumpkins or watch scary movies. If made by the pitcher, throw a few cinnamon sticks into the full batch, and also put out a plate of cinnamon sticks for everyone to garnish their individual glasses with.
For an extra sweet and aesthetic touch, dip the rim of your glass in Manuka Honey and powdered cinnamon and sugar and use an orange or other festive straw for this cocktail.
First, make a batch of Manuka Honey Simple Syrup if you don’t already have some on hand. You will want to leave ample time for it to cool, before using it in the mojito - so make the syrup first
