What is Beechwood Honey?
As a Wedderspoon customer, you've certainly tried our Manuka Honey, which is considered a superfood thanks to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties. But, did you know we offer specialty honey as well? Our Raw Beechwood Honey tends to fly under the radar a bit, but it's truly a shining star! Let's talk about why.
Beechwood Honey is also called Honeydew Honey. It is sourced from New Zealand's South Island. Beechwood Honey comes from the sap produced by aphids on the bark of beechwood trees. The sap is then collected by bees, and turned into honey.
As always, when it's time to harvest Beechwood Honey, the priority of our team of expert beekeepers is to keep our bees safe and sound. Honey is extracted in the gentlest way, causing as little harm as possible to the bees. Learn more about our Dream Team and harvest process here.
Beechwood Honey is really something special. It has a silky, smooth texture and it's deliciously sweet and aromatic, making it a great natural sweetener. The moment you open a jar of this honey, you're going to want to eat it by the spoonful!
Like Manuka Honey, Beechwood Honey has antioxidant properties and is considered a prebiotic. Incorporating Beechwood Honey into your daily life can be beneficial to your health, and, it's certainly not hard to find uses for it!
Because it's pollen-free, Beechwood Honey remains in a liquid state, meaning that it's very easy to mix into things. It can be your go-to for cooking and baking. A little bit goes a long way, since Beechwood Honey is naturally so sweet.
