If you’ve ever been to New York City during the holiday season, you likely remember the amazing aroma of honey roasted nuts that fills the streets. Street stands selling honey roasted nuts can be found on many corners throughout the city, and the delicious smell attracts customers from blocks away. It’s a scent you can distinctly remember, right?
If a trip to New York City isn’t on the calendar this year, or, you’ve never had the pleasure of trying said street nuts, the good news is, these sweet and toasty nuts are easy to make at home. Making a batch will not only leave you with a great snack, but it will also make your home smell delightful. While we are using pecans for the purpose of this recipe, please note that you can use any kind of nut you want. Almonds or walnuts would also be a great choice. And, if you can’t decide…make a mixture of them all!
A batch of these Manuka Honey Glazed Pecans would be a great addition to an hor d'oeuvres table at a party, packed neatly in a jar and given as a gift, or at home in the kitchen as an easy grab-and-go snack. Keep a jar on the counter to munch on as a midday pick-me-up. They would also be great in trail mix, served with cheese and fruit, or added to the top of a salad or dessert. Protein filled and delicious, there is no wrong way or time to snack on these.
The combination of cinnamon, salt and Manuka Honey this recipe calls for creates a sweet and savory flavor. These pecans will come out of the oven smelling mouthwatering. The Manuka Honey caramelizes them, and they’re crunchy and truly delicious. A pinch of salt balances out the sweetness of the Manuka Honey. If you lean more towards sweet or salty flavors, it is very easy to adjust to preference.
While our Manuka Honey Glazed Pecans can be made in under half an hour, they can also be made in advance and stored. If stored in a ziplock bag, they should last up to a week. Alternatively, you can freeze them for two to three months to enjoy this treat long after the holiday season passes.
