When it comes to Thanksgiving, the more options the better! There is no such thing as too many side dishes, and arguably, the sides are more important than the turkey, at least in my house! Thanksgiving is a day to spend time with family, show thanks, and enjoy delicious food. For many families, Thanksgiving dinner is actually a day-long meal, starting in the morning or early afternoon, and continuing through the evening, which means there are plenty of opportunities to try new dishes, no matter who is coming to your table.
Not only is it nice to have a variety of dishes served on Thanksgiving, but intentionally cooking enough to have substantial leftovers is a must! Your family likely has several tried and true Thanksgiving recipes you bring to the table year after year, but there’s no harm in adding some new recipes into the mix!
Popular Thanksgiving dishes include a wide variety of flavors and textures, but somehow, all go so well together when piled high and even mixed together on a plate. Generally, warm, savory dishes are nice for Thanksgiving, especially when the holiday lands on a chilly day.
