Preparing for a Smooth Transition Back to School

Preparing for a Smooth Transition Back to School

The sun is setting earlier, the temperatures are starting to cool off and the local stores are filled with school supplies which can only mean one thing…Fall and the new school year are upon us. The end of the summer season and the start of back to school season is a bittersweet time. You are likely wishing for a few extra days of summer, but also eager and curious about what the new school year holds for your family.

It’s certainly an exciting time, but can also feel stressful due to the change in routine and busy schedules that are likely ahead of you. It’s a good idea to start preparing for the start of the school year ahead of time in order to reduce the last-minute scrambling for school supplies and the mad rush to get everyone’s backpacks and bedrooms organized for the inevitable early morning rushes that are coming. We suggest not only doing your back to school shopping in advance, but also preparing your home and routine, too. This will make for the smoothest transition from those laid back summer days to the busy school and work weeks.

Organize and Stock Up at Home

There’s nothing better than starting a new school year with a clean and organized home. Spend some time towards the end of the summer decluttering your home and reorganizing to ensure an easier transition to the school year. Pull the lunch packing supplies and containers out from the back of the cabinet, make sure your home office is stocked with paper, pencils and project supplies and transition the kids’ closets from summer to fall so they can find school clothes easily.

It’s also a good idea to stock up on products your family regularly uses so that you don’t have to do any late-night surprise runs to the store. Stock up on things like extra ice packs and snacks for lunch boxes, the toiletry items your family uses regularly, and extra equipment or accessories needed for sports and extracurriculars your kids will be starting.

We also suggest stocking up on things like bandaids and over the counter medical supplies that may come in handy after a particularly rowdy recess or soccer practice. Likewise, stock up on our Propolis Sprays and Manuka Honey Drops that will come in handy when the inevitable illnesses start circulating around school and make their way into your home. Our Propolis Sprays are an all-natural solution to a sore throat and the symptoms of seasonal allergies and colds. They work naturally to soothe the throat and support your body’s natural defense. Our Manuka Honey Drops, also made of all-natural ingredients, are great for on-the-go soothing comfort throughout the day when you are experiencing a sore throat. They’re individually packaged and safe for the whole family.

Set Your Scholars Up for Success

Your little scholar’s school supplies list likely includes things like pencils, notebooks, a calculator, and tissue boxes for the classroom. This year, in addition to getting all the classic school supplies requested by their teacher, consider a few sweet additions, too. If your child has a locker or cubby to keep personal items in at school, send them in with a box of Manuka Honey-On-The-Go and Manuka Honey Pops. Both products make for a quick and easy snack that will offer a boost of natural energy when that mid-day slump hits.

Help Stock the Classroom

When you’re shopping for your child’s school supplies, consider picking up a few extra packs of things like dry erase markers, tissues and items that the classroom will likely go through quickly. Trust us, their teachers will be very appreciative of this! And, in addition to sending your kids in to school with all the classic school supplies, consider sending in a few extra thoughtful items for their teachers as well. Start the school year off in the sweetest way by gifting a little start of the school year kit for teachers. You can include things like Amazon, Starbucks or Dunkin gift cards, a coffee tumbler, extra hand sanitizer, and Propolis spray and Lozenges. Schools are a breeding ground for germs and teachers are at their best when they’re not feeling sick! Wedderspoon Propolis Spray and Manuka Honey Lozenges will most definitely come in handy for them during the school year, especially as we head into cold and flu season this winter.

From our family here at Wedderspoon to yours, we hope you have a wonderful and easy start of the school year!
